Article Transcript
The New York Tribune says that it is something to the credit of California that the press of the State, as reported, denounce the verdict of the coroner’s jury—‘Death from cause unknown’—in the case of the poor Chinaman stoned to death by white savages in the streets of San Francisco. But what shall be said of the civilization of a city where boys or men may murder an inoffensive foreigner on the streets, in broad daylight, and escape unwhipt [sic] of justice?
