Jamestown Riot Killed One Chinese Man

Narrative

On September 19, 1869, an anti-Chinese riot in Jamestown left one Chinese man dead and several others wounded. A later local history records only that “one Chinaman” was killed and “several wounded.” No newspaper account has yet been located, and the names of the victim, the wounded, and the perpetrators remain unknown.
